Who to call first
The top-rated names here have earned it. luxury Camper Rentals holds a 5.0 from 33 reviews and does delivery. Commack Camper also sits at 5.0, with 77 reviews, and delivers. Drive Home RV Rentals is 5.0 across 42 reviews and runs camper vans. DENKO RV Rentals has the deepest review count, 101, at 4.8, and offers motorhomes with delivery. Two more worth a look: Finger Lakes RV Rentals, 5.0 from 13 reviews, handles motorhomes and travel trailers with delivery, and Creative Touch Rentals, LLC sits at 4.5 from 30 reviews with delivery. Call ahead on holiday weekends; good rigs go early.
Match the rig to the trip
A motorhome suits a long loop with people who want a bathroom on board. A camper van is easier to park and better for two people chasing a few days at a time. A travel trailer only makes sense if you have a capable tow vehicle and some practice backing up; rental yards will check the hitch setup before you leave. Ask about generator hours and mileage allowances before signing, because that is where surprise charges live. I once paid extra for generator use I never thought to ask about. Also ask whether the kitchen kit and linens are included or add-ons.
Know the money side
Budgets break on the extras, not the nightly rate. Confirm the security deposit amount and how long the hold lasts. Ask what the rental insurance covers and what your own auto or credit card policy picks up, and get it in writing. One-way drop fees apply even when a company advertises one-way trips, so price that before you commit. Pet rules vary company to company, so say yes to the dog up front rather than at pickup. In summer and around holidays, book weeks ahead and confirm the pickup time.
