About Smith's Rent-A-Car
Smith's Rent-A-Car is a Santa Rosa shop that rents cars, vans, SUVs and trucks, and it also lists compact and large RV rentals. Storage for RVs and boats is part of the setup, plus a selection of U-Hauls if you're moving. The company says it has been in business since 1987. Its car lineup runs from compacts to full-size and premium models, and it sells used cars too. Some renters mention insurance as part of the deal. The reviews are mixed, and 180 of them average 3.4 stars. Several people describe trouble with the vehicles, including tire issues and cars that felt worn. Others mention a required insurance add-on and a mileage limit. On the plus side, reviewers single out a helpful counter employee and a manager who stepped in after a breakdown on a trip south. Hours are posted but the office isn't open around the clock. If you want an RV rather than a car, ask which units they actually have on the lot before you commit.
